Epson leads the way in projector technology
Although projector technology has brought outstanding imaging to the home, classroom, boardroom and auditorium, Epson continues to push the boundaries, creating better products with less light wastage that are both energy and cost-efficient. It is better for the environment and your budget.
Introducing: The revolutionary E-TORL Lamp
- E-TORL (Epson - Twin Optimised Reflection Lamp) has been developed and produced by Epson which brings projector technology to a whole new level.
- Unlike conventional projectors that use a parabolic reflector, the E-TORL lamp uses a specially shaped elliptical reflector and adds a sub reflector element that focus light beams 20% more efficiently. This means that E-TORL lamps are smaller, brighter, more efficient and run cooler than previous lamp designs.
- As illustrated in the comparison image, light emitted from the burner's electrodes hits the reflector and is reflected into the optic lenses to pass on to the LCD panels (3x) for projection. While the parabola-shaped reflector in an ordinary lamp usually leaks out and wastes a significant portion of the lamp's light rather than reflecting it into the optical train, this is no longer an issue with E-TORL.
- With this new design, we have replaced the parabolic reflector with an elliptical reflector, combined with a twin sub-reflector unit which gathers light that would otherwise be lost and redirects it back to the rear elliptical reflector and into the optics.
Environmental advantages
- This innovative technology - together with an optimised system of mirrors - enables you to reap the advantages of brighter images from a lower wattage bulb while using far less power.
- This major update in the design has achieved a 20% improvement in efficiency making the light output brighter and reducing the waste heat that resulted from lost light in the ordinary lamp design. In fact, over the past 10 years, the energy required to produce 100 lumens of brightness has fallen by 90%.
- Apart from the obvious advantage of clearer, sharper projector images thanks to the increased brightness with 2500 lumens, what are the key benefits that make an Epson projector with an E-TORL lamp the projector of choice?
- Shrinking optics equals shrinking costs as a reduction in the overall size of the projector means a reduction in purchase and running costs
- Less power consumption, less heat emitted
- Longer lamp life, quieter operation
- The smaller size projector is great for business use as it can easily be transported between meetings and presentations
- Home users will also benefit as the smaller unit can be moved from room to room with minimal inconvenience.
- So all in all, the Epson E-TORL lamp is the type of innovation that ensures not only do we remain ahead of the competition when it comes to developing projector technology, but we continue to provide our customers with outstanding products that deliver on every level.
